Harrison Ford Returning For Star Wars Episode VII?

February 15, 2013

It seems like we’re getting more news about Star Wars every week without there being any official confirmation of production dates, cast, etc. One of the main questions being asked is whether or not the original cast consisting at least of Carrie Fischer, Mark Hamil, and Harrison Ford would return to their original roles. Latino Review is reporting Harrison Ford has signed on to reprise the role of Han Solo in Episode VII slated to be released in 2015. Word got around just over a week ago about there being spin off films featuring Boba Fett and Han Solo. Obviously, they would take the approach of a young Han Solo for those films, but being as the new trilogy that Disney is making is set 25-30 years into the future, it makes all the sense in the world to cast Harrison Ford (and I’m sure he’s not mad at the checks he’ll be receiving).

Han Solo and Boba Fett Solo Star Wars Movies?

February 6, 2013

With the recent Disney purchase of Lucasfilms, talks of the new Star Wars trilogy began immediately following the announcement. But what was once rumored seems to be coming to life as Disney now are looking to expand on some of the characters from the original Star Wars films creating films based solely on the individual character. The two main characters in discussion are Han Solo and Boba Fet.

The adventures of Han Solo pre-A New Hope was actually the focus of one of the earliest Star Wars novels, 1979′s “Han Solo at Star’s End”, set two years before the events of the 1977 film.

The Boba Fett film, meanwhile, would be set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and would follow the bounty hunter on an intergalactic adventure.

Both of the the films (of which Lawrence Kasdan is said to be writing one and Simon Kinberg writing the other) are tentatively planned to see release sometime after 2015 when J.J. Abrams’ Episode VII is planned to hit theaters.

Disney Buys LucasFilms, Star Wars Episode VII in 2015

November 1, 2012

I’m late posting this obviously but have been following it since the story broke. Disney has purchased Lucasfilms for a reported $4.05 Billion. On top of that bombshell, a bigger bombshell came immediately after with the announcement of Star Wars Episode VII which will be released (tentatively) in 2015. George Lucas will be a creative consultant in some fashion, but stated he was ready to hand over the franchise to a new generation and apparently has been planning this for quite some time now.

The news today seems to be making Episode VII sound that much more interesting as an interview with Mark Hamil reveals he, Carrie Fischer, and George Lucas had lunch discussing Episode VII to Hamil’s surprise. There will be another trilogy (7 through 9) and they will be all original stories. But one of the original writers of Episode VII states he can’t discuss very much at all but that there is an older Luke Skywalker in the new trilogy.
