Incredibly sad day in Hip Hop. RIP to one of the greats…
Legendary emcee and producer Keith “Guru” Elam passed away Monday (April 19, 2010) in a New York City hospital. Just over six weeks since the former Gang Starr front-man was publicly reported to have suffered a cardiac arrest and been hospitalized, he died due to complications from undisclosed cancer after having been diagnosed with Anoxia.
The controversy surrounding Guru’s hospitalization, visitation rights, and recovery with present musical partner Solar led to limited information being released to press. What is known is that the 43 year-old Guru had suffered a heart attack, gone into a coma, and despite reports of strong recovery, ultimately lost his battle with what has now been revealed as cancer.

Former boxing champ Edwin Valero committed suicide in his jail cell on Monday just hours after he was arrested in his wife’s killing, police said.
The former lightweight champion used his own clothes to hang himself from a bar in his cell early Monday, Venezuelan Federal Police Chief Wilmer Flores told reporters.
He said Valero was found by another inmate, who alerted authorities in the police lockup in north-central Carabobo state. Valero still showed signs of life when they took him down, but they were unable to save him and he died about 1:30 a.m., Flores said.
The 28-year-old was detained Sunday on suspicion of killing his wife. Prosecutors said Sunday night that they had planned to charge Valero in the killing.
Valero was detained after police found the body of his 24-year-old wife in a hotel in Valencia. The boxer left the hotel room around dawn Sunday and allegedly told security he had killed Jennifer Viera, Flores said.

Only a few weeks away! Still can’t believe Floyd and Shane are finally fighting. Never thought I’d see it.
Still not 100% sure this is a good move for Cotto…
Wow, this looks interesting.

After Cotto’s brutal loss to Pacquiao last November, the question on everyone’s mind aside from the personal tragedies Cotto and his family have suffered in recent months due to the untimely death of his father was who would be heading the Cotto camp from here on out? In steps…Emmanuel Steward.
After weeks of rumors, Cotto finally announced that Steward, who also trains the Klitschko’s, as his new head trainer. Joe Santiago (who trained Cotto for Pacquiao), cutman Joe Chavez, and Cotto’s brother Jose will make the team as they set up for Cotto’s return at Yankee Stadium against 154lb champion Yuri Foreman on June 5th.
