Ahhhh man…this doesn’t look good at all…

A number of sites today are pushing forward the story that G.I. Joe director Stephen Sommers has been locked out of the film’s editing room, based on a post from film producer Don Murphy’s message board (now removed), as noticed by Latino Review. The story is picking up steam, in part thanks to vaguely corroborative posts by people like Jeff Wells. And while I can’t verify the story, I have heard several really bad things about the film from a few informed sources. Common word is that it is a disaster for Paramount, and that a lot of unplanned post-production work was done to amp up the action and excitement factors and possibly just to make the thing watchable

You mean to tell me that Hollywood would hire a director who has no idea what he’s doing to run a potential cash crop franchise, but who instead creates this….well, I’d go so far as to call it celluloid abortion?
Considering the fact that there has been no true pre-buzz about this film AT ALL; this makes a lot of sense. To bad too. I was mildly excited about it, mildly.
If I were to tapdance my face off with my own dick, and then watch what this movie will become, I would prefer to go back to the tapdancing.
Yeah, I say we outlaw celluloid abortion! I loved GI Joe as a kid…this has to be better than the TV series…seriously! Maybe instead of live action they should’ve done the whole thing in CG/animation with actors wearing those special suits that the computer can use to detect movement – like in Beowulf (’07).
It’s a movie based on a plastic action figure toy. Just how likely was it to be a work of great cinema?!
Surely at best a midly entertaining ‘action movie’ for kids was on the cards?

Amp up the action to make it watchable? Yeah, THAT always works like a charm…
I want this movie to be good but everything I have seen from it looks really bad.
What do you expect this director was new !
[...] Rumors have been flying all over the place about a supposed disastrous screening of “G.I. Joe” [...]
[...] GI Joe a Disaster in Pre Screenings? Director Fired? Ahhhh man…this doesn’t look good at all… [...]
No surprise there.
Saw a commercial for “GI Joe” on NBC during last night’s Stanley Cup hockey final.
Based on that 30-second advert and what I read here “GI Joe” looks like a shoo-in for the Razzies. Name-checking a 10-year-old movie from another studio doesn’t help.
I was looking for Action Figure related articles, this was great – bookmarked your site!
Gi Joe is about nano technology, isn’t it?
i really wanna see this movie soon but i have no time enough right now
